The Sandy Creek High School Chorus is an award winning organization consisting of 4
choruses: Treble Chorus, Men's Ensemble, Honors Ensemble and the Select Mixed Chorus
under the direction of Mrs. Millie Turek. Please see Class downloads for the complete

The Sandy Creek High School Select Mixed Chorus, under the direction of Millie L. Turek,
is one of twelve choirs in the United States invited to attend the Chanticleer National Youth Choral Festival in March of 2010 in San Francisco, California. Chanticleer, called “the world’s reigning male chorus” by New Yorker magazine, is a GRAMMY award winning
choral ensemble based in San Francisco and has toured the world in it’s 32 seasons. The group is known for the seamless blend of its twelve male voices ranging from countertenor to bass. Last spring, Chanticleer presented two concerts at Spivey Hall in Morrow and at
the invitation of Dr. John Odom, choral director at Starr’s Mill High School, came to Fayette County to work with the male choruses from Starr’s Mill, McIntosh, and Sandy Creek High Schools. Matt Oltman, Chanticleer’s music director, was “impressed” with the SCHS Men’s Chorus and suggested an invitation to the 2010 Festival be extended to Sandy Creek’s top choir.
The SCHS Select Mixed Chorus is off to a terrific start in rehearsals in preparation for our upcoming concerts for the 09-10 season. Members have begun fund raising efforts to make the journey to California. The trip will cost chorus members and chaperones just
under $1,000.00 each.
You can be a part in helping us take advantage of this amazing educational opportunity by supporting us in the following fund raising activities:
October 30 – “A Costume Concert for Kids” - Bring the little ones in costume to a 30-minute concert featuring not-so-scary characters and songs of the season. Play carnival games and leave with a goody bag of candy. Shows are 4:30pm and 5:30pm at Patriot Hall
at SCHS. Admission is $5.
Nov. 7 – Community Yard Sale – If you need some extra cash, reserve a slot in the SCHS student parking lot and bring your own items to sell at our community yard sale. Or come
and shop, eat, and support our SCHS Chorus members as they sell their wares to earn their way to San Francisco! 7am-3pm. Contact Debbie Spezzano at dspezzano@bellsouth.net to reserve your own space or download the reservation form available on the SCHS website
