Come out and see this year's Fine Arts Musical - Les Misérables, winner of eight Tony Awards!
Based on Victor Hugo's classic novel, Les Misérables (French for "The Miserables) was composed in 1980 by Miss Saigon composers Claude-Michel Shönberg and Alain Boubil, with a later addition of an English version of the show written by Herbert Kretzmer. The Broadway production of "Les Miz," as we call it, opened on March 12, 1987. It won a total of eight Tony Awards, including Best Musical, Best Book, and Best Score, and received an additional four nominations. Although the show is still running in other locations, like London's West End at the Queen's Theatre, the Broadway production of Les Miz ended on May 18, 2003, closing after 6,680 performances. It is the 3rd longest-running Broadway show in history. And now, Sandy Creek students will be bringing this hugely successful musical to the stage in Patriot Hall!
